My focus for the year has been to create semi-abstract seascapes that focus on the feeling and atmosphere of being by the sea or on the sea, with less dependence on details of a particular view.
I think this is one of my 'break through' pieces in that regard. Although it is fairly small and simple, it distills the essence of the feeing I as after, to connect us with the energy of the sea.
Blues and greens create intriguing patches of water at different depths and the ironshore rocks in the foreground gorund the viewer, whilst enjoying the splash from the waves.
Painted in blocky acrylics on canvas and a semi-abstract style, this was chosen as the signature piece for my 'Rising Tide' exhibition.
For an ocean-lover, the foamy seasplash and fresh sea breeze is not only a tonic, but almost intoxicating. I've been lucky enough to have a first career in scuba diving. Connecting with the Caribbean Sea everyday workday was a privilege I've come to appreciate so much more throughout a year of lockdowns. The tingle in your feet as the waves ripple over them at the water's edge, the fresh salt spray in your face are memories to be treasured.
