Sir David Attenborough has long been a source of inspiration to me. His indomitable, yet gracious, upbeat approach, in the face of devastating species loss and climate change, is completely admirable. At the time of painting, he is 95 and still working hard for the planet.
I was inspired to paint his portrait in a special way that related to the precious nature of our little blue-green world. Whilst this colour palette was a challenge, I think it speaks the message he would like us to hear - keeping the health and welfare of our planet uppermost in our minds, with every little choice throughout the day.
I have painted his portrait in a blocky, contemporary, acrylic style with wide, flat brushes, using only blue and green paint. I think his expression is serious, yet hopeful and looking, as always, to the future with hope.
With Sir David’s approval, I have pledged to give 50% of all the profits to the Seven Oaks Sanctuary for Wildlife in Runaway Bay, Jamaica.
Here, I am offering three very special limited editions - larger size formats on either a gallery-wrapped canvas or sleek satin metal surface.
