Sir David Attenborough has long been a source of inspiration to me. His indomitable, yet gracious, upbeat approach, in the face of devastating species loss and climate change, is completely admirable. At the time of painting, he is 95 and still working hard for the planet.
I was inspired to paint his portrait in a special way that related to the precious nature of our little blue-green world. Whilst this colour palette was a challenge, I think it speaks the message he would like us to hear - keeping the health and welfare of our planet uppermost in our minds, with every little choice throughout the day.
I have painted his portrait in a blocky, contemporary, acrylic style with wide, flat brushes, using only blue and green paint. I think his expression is serious, yet hopeful and looking, as always, to the future with hope.
With Sir David’s approval, I have pledged to give 50% of all the profits to the Seven Oaks Sanctuary for Wildlife in Runaway Bay, Jamaica.
Here, I am offering three very special limited editions - larger size formats on either a gallery-wrapped canvas or sleek satin metal surface.
(Limited Edition of 5 in size 24" x 30",
Limited Edition of 10 in size 18"x23"
and Limited Edition of 20 in size 14"x18")
(Prints in small sizes are available linked here, in a choice of media.)
The Limited Editions feature a very special logo over the signature and come accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

Run by environmental scientist, Wendy Lee, this sanctuary houses, feeds and protects all the parrots rescued from the illegal pet trade - protected species that can no longer feed themselves in the wild. She also receives injured and rescued snakes and other birds. Wendy has no formal funding and runs this service almost single-handedly.
You can read more about her amazing story on my blog with the Yellow-billed Parrot painting. (Prints of the parrot painting also raise funds for the Seven Oaks Sanctuary.)
