Please enjoy browsing my collection. I'm excited to share my view of the world with you.
I paint in watercolours, acrylics and mixed media. Right now, I'm steering my paintings towards improving ocean awareness. I've spent a lot of my adult life in Jamaica, so I paint my tumbling tropical garden, faces full of character, the ocean and the Caribbean reefs. I add atmosphere with ambiguous passages of texture and light, and subjects emerge from colour and pattern. I hope my art makes you feel connected with (and protective of) our natural world.

Inspiration
The underwater world holds endless fascination for me. Since my first career was in scuba diving, capturing my favourite reef inhabitants is like visiting with old friends!
The sea, above or below the surface, has proven a lifelong subject, but I also love sharing the amazing vibrancy of the tropical plants and flowers in my Jamaican garden and also the quiet, calm countryside and coastlines of my native UK.
Caribbean faces are intriguing, too, with rich warm skin tones and so much life in their expressions!
Techniques
Impressionistic, yet expressive with some bold use of colour, with a contemporary feel would describe my paintings. I merge media and techniques in watercolour, acrylics, mixed media, sometimes adding found elements.
I work from life, reference photos or my imagination/memory, being guided by the feeling of awe that nature's beauty inspires.
A lot of planning happens in my head and sketchbooks, and then I paint fairly fast - a habit developed from giving live talks and demos to art clubs (which I still do via Zoom, these days).
career highlights
As an international artist, I have several awards from the UK, including SAA Prof Artist of the Year 2016 and 2018. I have exhibited in the Mall Galleries, London, with the Artistic & Illustrators Magazine AOY finalists 2017 and with the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation WAY 2018. My art was the cover of Paint Magazine's January 2019 edition, and I have had several articles published by them.
I exhibited in the Broward County Library, Florida in 2003, and many exhibitions in Jamaica, since 1997.
